Recently everybody's topic during "sit-down chats" are about the Swine Flu, or correctly, the Influenza Flu. It's inevitable to talk about this new deadly disease after what happened during the SARS period few years back ago. It took away several lives and separated families.
Though my memory of the SARS period is rather vague, I can still remember how dangerous and how scary it is. Now that a new pandemic is growing, we really have to be very careful. Especially when you are in the public, you have to take note of people in your surrounding. Not that we have to treat everybody else as a sick person or what, but we have got to be responsible for our heath.
Sick people should stay at home and rest, and not force themselves to go work, if not, you might just pass the virus to somebody else.
Yesterday evening, I just found out that Ah Gong had been admitted to the hospital. I got so shocked and frantic when my cousin told me about it. Ah Gong was having breathing problems on Sunday night, and my cousins admitted him to Tan Tock Seng immediately. Doctor said there was water in his lungs, so they had to pump it out. Luckily he was feeling better by afternoon time yesterday.
I grew up in a big family, staying with my Ah Gong, uncle, auntie, and cousins. So generally our bond is stronger. I still remember in the past when I was still a kid, Ah Gong would drive me around town in his Mercedes, playing his Hokkien songs. He would bring me to many places such as Chomp Chomp and Chinatown to eat good food. I still remember very clearly that I would always hold ah gong's thumb when I'm walking beside him. Ah Gong's hand is so rough and huge in the mind of a young and small me.
Ah gong has always been very healthy and active since I was young. Sometimes we don't understand how he gets all those energy, even a young teenager can't beat ah gong. And he is always the advanturous type, travelling to all parts of Singapore alone. Even now when he doesn't drive anymore, he would still travel alone by MRT and bus. It's quite impressive for an old man who doesn't even take public transport in the past. In fact, this is the first time Ah Gong got admitted to the hospital.
Now, we have to admit to reality that ah gong is old liao.... age is taking a toll on his health and body. I really hope and pray that Ah Gong's health will get better.
Yesterday I wanted to go visit Ah Gong, but now the hospital came up with alot of stupid rules lor. Firstly, you have to pass their front counters by showing your IC, stating your purpose of visit. If you are visiting a patient with your partner or family, you have to take turns, one by one to go upstairs to see the patient. So mah fan!!!
They even shortened the visiting hours to between 5-8pm. I reached at 8.03pm, and the security guard didn't allow me to go up liao. The most pissed off part was when I was queueing up to at the lift to go up, the queue did not moved at all. Then the guard just looked at us and talked to himself. Then I saw a notice board beside me stating that the visiting hours are between 5-8pm. Generally, Singaporeans' mentality, we would "try our luck" first, and so, I was trying my luck too, with a few other visitors in front and behind me. But the guard just simply ignored us, like we are transparent. Then after about 5 minutes later, a lady at the front of the queue asked the guard, and he just answered to her and she left the queue. Then he turned towards the back of the queue and talked towards nowhere, saying "I don't know why these people are still queueing here leh, they don't know how to read issit? visiting hours are over, still queue for what?"
What the hell!.... If you guys don't allow anymore visiting, just tell us lah! Don't let us queue there like nobody's business. The way he talk is so damn yaya, just pisses me off. When I told baby about it, he was so angry, and said that we should complain that idiot. Too bad I didn't noticed his name....bloody idiot....!!!!
It's good for the hospital to take precautionary measures, but they cannot treat people with such a bad attitude mah..... If you say nicely, people will just follow the rules what.... damn fucker leh....
Anyway, hope Ah Gong will get well and return home soon....
