ikea day

This morning we woke up like around 11am, and baby still wanted to laze in bed. For me, I can't really fall asleep again after waking up near lunch hour, so evil me dragged baby out of bed and to go out to have our brunch.

We went to that Amk market to have our vegetarian bee hoon with lots of crispies, and then went for walk walk around Amk searching for my melody sticker but in avail.
We went home after that and I waited at home while baby fetch his dad to his grandma's house at woodlands.

After baby returned, we got ready for our ikea window shopping. We always loved shopping at ikea because they sell almost everything from furniture, home decors, down to rugs and picture frames. I love all these stuff, and these just keeps me awake and energetic. I can go rounds and rounds looking at the items and visualizing how I'll decorate our home in the near future. I really love home decorating, and enjoy the sense of satisfaction for creating a beautiful and cosy home.

We had Swiss meatballs and fried chicken wings for our dinner at ikea. There are always so many people at the ikea eatery, I guess everybody liked their Swiss meatballs.
End up, we spent 3 hours there and our damage was $7.20. We got a small stool, some glasses(I broke one a few weeks ago) and also hangers for my over loaded closet. It was a fruitful day for us, even though simple but I really enjoyed myself. =)

Here are some photos I took of Baby when he was opening his Brown Rice Hamper (which he won from HDB) and also wearing his new spectacles~ Cute!

Ooh...Harry Porter look alike~

Brown rice winner...haha.. I hate brown rice!

Orr...doesn't he look cute in this new look~

Baby is always so photogenic =)

watcha cooking?

Last night baby was helping me in the kitchen with cooking.. We went home right after work to cook ourselves a sumptous dinner of spaghetti! Yummy yummy, we cooked mommy's share too, and she liked it. Heez

I have to go find some nice cookbooks to explore new recipes and sharpen my cooking skills so that I can cook more healthy and nice food for baby.

We went for fish steamboat at our favorite place kovan. That coffee shop is famous for their fish steamboat, and every evening you will see the whole place packed with customers.

Their fish soup base is always so sweet. Not the normal kind of sweet I'm talking about. It's a term we Chinese describe for soups that has a rich taste of it's ingredients. Usually chinese are very particular about soups. My mommy always says that drinking soup everyday is good for our health and complexion. This is quite true because during the process of "brewing" soups, the essence of the ingredients goes into being the soup base, making the soup richly in taste. In the past, I didn't appreciate when my mommy cook soups for me, and sometimes I don't even drink them. But now that I know that my mom took all the effort in cooking soups for me, I drink them every day and thank her for cooking for me. Not everyone has the priviledge of having nice soups to drink everyday, and I'm very thankful for the 'priviledges' I get everyday.

hopes for a change in life..

Today I overslept again... Had to bathe fast fast.. Than chiong out take cab.

Sometimes I wonder how I'll be able to cope if I were to find a 8-5pm job.. Cause my working hours have been around 10am for the past few years, I'm afraid my body can't adjust to waking up at the wee hours.. But well.. If I were to find a new job, I'll work my butts out to adjust to the timing..

Talk about finding new job, today the recruitment agent called me to arrange for an interview because she had a suitable job in mind for me when she saw my resume, and the most important point is that it meets my salary requirement. Well, I'm trying not to give myself too high hopes as baby always reminds me that the the higher hopes I have, the greater disappointment I get when things don't work out. I'll just keep my fingers crossed for now....

We went to hougang plaza to have hotplate steak and to look for my melody sticker.. hotplate was terrific, but didn't manage to find my melody...

This week seemed to go by very fast.. Didn't realize it's Friday tomorrow.. Hope to have a great weekend ahead!

Hokkaido... ichiban!

Cousin just returned from her japan-Hokkaido trip and bought lots of goodies for us! Mochis, dried scallop, chocolates packed in beautiful wrappers... Yummy n feast for the eyes too.. The tiramisu almond chocolate was my favourite! Mommy bought it during her japan trip last year too, but was restricted to only one pack by siong.. Hate him..=p

Wouldn't it be great if our honeymoon was at japan too! Baby will be thrilled! Especially with all those fresh sashimi and sushi he loves!

Today we went to kovan after work because I gave baby my Emporior Armani spectacle and he went to do the lense to match his degree. I feel so stupid buying the spectacle.. Spend so much yet never wear at all, the frame was too big for my face.. Didn't quite like it after wearing for a week..

Well, I intend to do LASIK, so no more new spectacle for me liao.. Baby is checking out where I can do lasik for more affordable price.. Till now, we have short list 'the lasik surgery' and 'gleneagles'.. Think I will go do some researh and also get feedbacks from friends who have done lasik liao..

I'm so stuffed right now.. Having ate kuay chap and drinking my favourite honey milk tea with pearl... Burp!... Ops!

human..

Human.. They appear in various shapes, sizes, styles, genders, and generally, characters.

Probably due to the nature of my jobs, I get to meet people from different walks of life, and boy do they amaze me. I was telling Nila, my colleague, today that I really met so many strange people over the years working in the jewellery sales line. The most vivid one was this uncle strange mid age uncle coming to kovan, to look at me n bio me when I'm working. I didn't realized that until one day, his wife actually came to my shop and spoke to me. She was telling me that her husband goes to kovan everyday to spy on me, even if he has to work, he will go there after work just to take a look at me.

Initially I thought she was some crazy woman who was dumped by her husband, and goes around warning people whom she thinks is her husband's type. But her daughter, about a few years younger then me, was with the woman, trying to convince me that they weren't some syndicate or scandler people. The woman even showed me her husband's photo so that I can be wary of him when I see him.

After that day, I really saw that uncle everday I work.. Walking around the mall and standing opposite my shop, looking at me when I didn't notice... Baby was so worried that he even wanted to confront that uncle.. Haha.. I just took everything easy.. As long as he doesn't follow me home.. Luckily I was eventually transferred to bugis branch a few months later...

Today one of our old client came to the showroom and was telling boss that he got sued by a lady because of his dog. There were question marks above our head when he said that. So he explained the story... He was walking his dog in a park and his dog barked at one Singapore lady. She fell down, had some minor cuts on her hand. Than she stode up on her own, took out her mobile, and dialled for ambulance herself. Then after the incident she sued our client for $16000. Lame right?
But the client then explained that she was actually a lawyer... And we all said "oh.."

Well.. The lady must be some evil hearted person, because I saw the cute cute cute dog, and she was such a baby, eventhough huge in size, but she was so guai and allowing us to take photos of her.

The client told us he was returning to the states after staying in singapore for 7 years, and the incident played a tiny part in convincing himself to return home....

Are Singaporeans really so scary?.....???

Yeh! I got my iPhone!!

*zHigUo + xiNhUi = kUkU & LaLa *

Yeh..!! Muah finally got me iphone 3G 16GB! ...and it's FREE!!

Actually not totally free lah, cos we had to sign a 2 year contract with singtel.... nowander siong found it strange when I told him we will get a iPhone totoally free when the guy called me and check if we wanted to sign contract for our singnet broadband. But well....I still got it cos Baby signed line for me... Heez... not exactly for me lah, cos he needed a new line too, just sign alittle earlier than planned.

I'm so excited now, have to download loads of stuff onto my mobile ... wahaha!! Yesterday we went to test drive Hyundai Advante, because we are planning to buy new car, and Baby wanted to test drive first. Actually we already made up our minds to get the car liao, even got Nancy, the car dealer lady to apply the car loan for Baby liao. Then suddenly, today Papa told us not to buy that car, and showed us the new advertisment by Toyota. They are also selling their new phrase Toyota Vios at special price. Than papa commanded us not to buy before he approves..... it's quite fustrating because Papa likes to have a say in us buying what car and what color, manual or auto... but in the first place it's Baby paying for the car neh... not Papa.... Mommy should also be changing her car too, now that COE dropped to $2. Later Baby will be accompanying mommy to Borneo Motors to view and test drive the vios, and as for Mommy, think she will just buy the new Altis immediately.

Last night we went to Cathay @ AMK Hub to watch Madagasca 2. Then after that, we were attracted to the sweet jackpot machine in the arcade. We contemplated on whether to play or not, because we weren't really going for the jackpot prize, or those lousy quality sweets, we wanted to enjoy the process of winning... End up we spent like 30 bucks on one huge bag of sweets and a jackpot prize - Christmas Stitch. Heez... waste of money but both of us were really very happy.

There was once I was watching Criminal Minds on channel 5, it was a scene at a funfair, and a officer made a comment of "how do these funfairs survive over the years, who comes to these funfairs anyway?". The other officer commented that these funfairs are actually doing very well, in fact making lots of money, and to everybody's surprise, the patrons who actually pay $10 to win a $2 soft toys are man. They are the silly ones who will spend the money to make their partners happy or impressed. Hah! I thought that was funny.... Guys are "so smart"...

It seems like lots of stuff are going on at the same time, kind of over the top but I still can handle ba~

Shitty Girl~

*zHigUo + xiNhUi = kUkU & LaLa *

We went to Paradise On Earth for our dinner on Tuesday night with Lao Da and gang~ I didn't really ate much, to my surprise~ I was mainly eating golden mushroom, lots and lots of it, and drank lots of lime juice. End up, I woke up to a bad tummy ache in the middle of the night. Had a great 'flush', and went back to sleep feeling sicky~ Baby called me shitty girl, heez... cos he is shitty boy~ But....who doesn't shit man?~~

It has been an hectic week, been thinking and pondering about the same issues again and again... making my mind so tired. I think this is the problem with Pieces. We are born to imagine, we exaggerate by letting our imagination run wild, we are sensitive yet sometimes selfish, we worry too much, we are kind by nature by tend to appear evil, haha... we are faithful and expects our partner to be romantic and thoughtful, we are introverts and extroverts at the same time, we mind what others think but appear to not care when people pay attention to us...simply to say, we are siao~

Haha! This are the facts and actual analysis of a typical Pieces....its not just all about the good points you read about in those horoscope thingy. Which is more accurate, ask a Pieces like and you will never strike the wrong goal~

There's just so many things I wanna do, wanna say, wanna have, wanna buy, wanna own, wanna enjoy.... but everyone has got their limits. Who says life is fair~ Life is never fair ok! There is always that 'someone' out there that you will compare with, and he or she will always own that bag that life, that money, that car that bag, that shoe that you will want, and this just never ends. One will never be contented with what they already have, and we have got to live with this fact. But these are the things that 'drives' us to work hard and play hard, and never let our lives go to waste.

Well... enough of these 'ashley's theory' for today.... we have free Mio TV loh~... go watch free cable channels liao~

Every Girl's Dream

*zHigUo + xiNhUi = kUkU & LaLa *

Continued.....

The quality of the food at my cousin's wedding was terrific, comparable to that of Jumbo, or those famous seafood restaurant. The highlight of the night was the Sichuan Master, who was an expert in pouring tea from a tea pot with a long "mouth". The tea was nice too, filled with chrysanthemum flowers and many other herbs. However, both Siong and I were wondering how he was able to cope with handling 300-400 guests alone.

On a whole, the experience we had at that hotel was great, but the only concern was that the two ball room entrance were way too close and confusing for the guests. I am so happy for my cousin, as I know that she had been waiting for this day to arrive since how many years back. Its every girl's dream to have that wonderful and perfect wedding, to make sure that everything every detail goes correctly. I still remember what cousin told me when we were helping her change into her evening gown. She said "my mind just went blank the moment I step into the aisle, the only thing I could do was smile and smile".

This triggers me to wonder if this happens to majority of the brides, and that would it happen to me too. Well, one will never know till the day arrives.

Cousin should be in Hokkaido right now, freezing her nose, enjoying her honeymoon. So sweet of ah bong to give her last minute honeymoon surprise. I wonder where we will go on our own honeymoon. =p

There are so many conincidence in life, especially after I met Baby. Whenever we attend some major events, he meets people he knows. Like my cousin in law being Baby's poly classmate, he meeting his primary classmate during ah pei's wedding last year, and this time, the other bride who was having her wedding next to my cousin's ballroom was actually Baby's ex-colleague from SMRT. Well.... Baby has so many friends~

Well, there are several photos we took during cousin's wedding and they are all with my friends... I'll post them when I receive them.

Enjoy your honeymoon cousin!! =)

Breakfast is Important!!

*zHigUo + xiNhUi = kUkU & LaLa *

'Importance of having Breakfast'

Breakfast can help prevent strokes, heart attack and sudden death. Advice on not to skip breakfast!

For those who always skip breakfast, you should stop that habit now! You've heard many times that 'Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.' Now, recent research confirms that one of the worst practices you can develop may be avoiding breakfast.

Why?
Because the frequency of heart attack, sudden death, and stroke peaks between 6.00am. and noon, with the highest incidence being between 8.00am. and 10.00a.m. What mechanism within the body could account for this significant jump in sudden death in the early morning hours?

We may have an answer.
Platelet, tiny elements in the blood that keep us from bleeding to death if we get a cut, can clump together inside our arteries due to cholesterol or laque buildup in the artery lining. It is in the morning hours that platelets become the most activated and tend to form these internal blood clots at the greatest frequency. However, eating even a very light breakfast prevents the morning platelet activation that is associated with heart attacks and strokes.

Studies performed at Memorial University in St.Johns, Newfoundland found that eating a light, very low-fat breakfast was critical in modifying the morning platelet activation. Subjects in the study consumed either low-fat or fat-free yogurt, orange juice, fruit, and a source of protein coming from yogurt or fat-free milk. So if you skip breakfast, it's important that you change this practice immediately in light of this research. Develop a simple plan to eat cereal, such as oatmeal or Bran Flakes, along with six ounces of grape juice or orange juice, and perhaps a piece of fruit. This simple plan will keep your platelets from sticking together, keep blood clots away from forming, and perhaps head off a potential Heart Attack or stroke. So never ever skip breakfast.....!!

This was the email baby forwarded to me today. He always nagged about the importance of breakfast and that I shouldn't skip mine even if I don't have the time to due to work. Even a small piece of biscuit stuffed in my mouth in the early morning would do me good. Well, in the past I always skipped my breakfasts because of my previous job. Now, every morning I make it a point to prepare myself a simple breakfast of buns or sandwiche, if not, some biscuits to "warm up" my body and prepare myself for the day.

Have you had yours today?.... Its never too late to start a good habit!

Congrats Cousin!

*zHigUo + xiNhUi = kUkU & LaLa *

Yesterday turned out great! We all woke up damn early in the morning, like 5am? I only managed to sleep at about 2am, so that makes it 3 hours of sleep, and a panda ashley~

I went to cousin joey's place, which was 2 levels under my own, and the make up artist just started putting on make up for her. Heez, cousin looked gorgeous, well, which bride doesn't? But it was exceptional for cousin as she usually doesn't wear make up or wear skirt. All of her colleagues were amazed at how she looked with full make up and 3 inch heels.

Our friends, ah dua, ah sui, ah pei and ah mei together with their partners, reached only slightly later than me, and we were all so excited, discussing how to torture those guys later. After cousin was finished with her make up, we were all eagerly taking photos. The photographer uncle was kind of crappy, and we were all sniggering at his cold jokes behind his back. Really never seen anyone as lame as him. we took the 'consecutive 5 shots' with cousin, heez, we were all acting cute, but it was all fun and laughter.

The groom, Mr. Bong, reached kind of on the dot, and we knew it was on purpose; because they know we can't stall time and had to let them in. We actually planned our tricks quite well, and we were nice to not have those drinking and running around 12 levels to find red threads kind of tricks. Ours were simple and meaningful, asking them to blow 15 balloons and tie around the groom's wrist, forming sentences with ginko nuts and crack open with their bare hands, and concentrated ribena ice pop with the door key in the middle.

Well, though our plan was flawless, we didn't have the time to carry out everything. Because by the time they reached, we only had 5 minutes to play. So the balloons were reduced to 5, and we asked them to burst it with their bare hands instead. Ribena ice pop wasn't very well done, as it was too concentrated, the ice didn't hold together. Ginko nuts were simple, just forming the sentence 'I love Joey' and asking the groom to shout out loud to let cousin hear him. Well, but we did have a "fierce" battle for our ang bao. Heez, there were 10 of us, and we were given $888. Not bad lah hor... not too hard on my new cousin in law.

The bridal cars were all sponsored by cousin's boss, 4 Mercedes, they said it was special class type, not the standard big small eyes version. I happen to sit in the sporty one, chauffeured by cousin's boss himself. He was quite young for a boss, and funny and cheeky one too. So nice to know cousin is well taken care of with such good boss. She was really lucky, because her husband works in the same office as her too. They are engineers.

The morning customs ended at about 12.30pm. We had our buffet lunch and headed back home to have some beauty sleep before we headed for the hotel. Cousin Berry met me at our void deck, and we set off to fetch the guys, ah chai ah di, ah yi and wei hua. Baby had to go to work from 2-6pm, so he is meeting us directly at the hotel.

Dinner was at Park Royal Hotel on Beach Road. It was my first time going to this hotel, and it didn't occur to me that it existed too. It's location was kind of not obvious when you are on the road, as the from view was blocked by trees and a bus stop. It was situated just next to Concourse. The first impression of the hotel was actually not bad. Quite posh I would say, and service was great. Hotel room was comparable to Meridian, and the breakfast was catered on the same level as the rooms. Very convenient and has more privacy for the guests.

There were two ballrooms, named Grand and Stamford Ballroom. Cousin's was in Stamford, which was also named Si Chuan Dou Hua (bean curd) restaurant. The entrances of these two ballrooms were very close to each other. Thats my only concern for this hotel actually. The entrances were too closed liao, and the cocktail lounge was shared. So when most of the guest arrived, the place was packed with people, and there were several guest who checked in at the wrong reception. I was helping out at the reception, and we encountered a few guest from the other side checking in at ours and it was quite embarrasing when they found out that they were at the wrong side.

The food was great, everyone else thought so. The cold dish was quite unique as it was with a touch of japanese style, and one of the dishes was chilli crab with fired bun. Yummy!

to be continued.....

Little Black Dress

*zHigUo + xiNhUi = kUkU & LaLa *

I've been pondering what exactly to wear for cousin's wedding dinner for over a month, but decided to go with a little halter neck black dress that I already have. I found out from my friends that they happen to be wearing black too, such a coincidence... Well, as people say, a little black dress will never go wrong, why crack our brains to find something unique but not too expensive. We just have to top off our dresses with a nice accessory, and voala! that will do the job!

I managed to find a nice pair of earring unintentionally, as this shop at kovan, when we went for our dinner on Sunday. Baby said it was nice, and I liked it too, so why not?.... This way I don't have to worry liao~

Yesterday in office, we were chatting about getting leave for CNY, and my colleagues already submit their leave form liao... Because they will be flying back to Indonesia for their new year. Well, time really flies, a month later it will be Christmas, and then New Year will arrive. I'll most probably take half day leave on the third day of new year, as it happens to be Wednesday, then go back to work on Thursday. I guess it should be alright...

This week is going by rather fast, excited for cousin, wedding is just few days away, and we will be having 'hans' night on Friday night, but of cause not going to clubbing or what, our style is gathering at her home, which is 2 levels down mine... heez~ Will be dinner together with friends and close relatives, and I like that! =)

Chocolates make my day!

*zHigUo + xiNhUi = kUkU & LaLa *

On Saturday, after meeting cousin joey at vivo, we went to Paris Bijoux to look for any suitable necklaces, however their shop was rather small, and there wasn't anything suitable actually. So end up we went to Takashimaya to shop at their department store as I remember there are lots of counters selling costume jewels. Luckily, we managed to find a bracelet cousin liked, but ended up not buying necklace as she could use the ones the bridal package included.

Cousin needed to get many stuffs, new pajamas, new towels, new undies and new toilet accessories. So we went to Muji at Paragon, where she can get everything she needed. There are just so much details that didn't occur to me when it comes to wedding necessities shopping. Shopping with cousin can be quite tiring as she walks very fast, and usually doesn't trace off to other stuff. Its like get down to business, and she only enters shops that has what she wants. Luckily I got to go Candy Empire,(my first time there) to get some chocolates for Baby, wow they have so much to choose from, and I got almost every flavor from the stand that sells loosely.

Chocolates just makes my day, even if my dinner wasn't nice, having a new creamy or minty chocolate makes me contented. I'm a dessert person, and I usually eat less for my meals, in order to leave some space for a new dessert of brownie topped with vanilla ice cream, or oreo cheesecake. Baby always nags about eating dessert as they are really fattening, but end up he is the one eating most of it.... Heez~

Weddings!

*zHigUo + xiNhUi = kUkU & LaLa *

So sad, today Baby last minute have to work ot from 6-10pm... What a stupid timing man~ Luckily I'll be meeting cousin Joey to go shopping at Vivo. She is getting married next week, and having her dinner at Park Royal Hotel. Today we will be shopping for her accessories as she haven't bought any to match her gowns yet. Our friend, Ah Pei, recommended us to go Vivo, because she got her accessories there too... but still not too sure which boutique is it.

I'll probably see if I can find any nice earrings to match with my halter neck gown, because I practically have nothing in my accessories collection to match with it. Heez... waste money again I guess... I'll also pay a visit at Candy Empire and see if there are any interestng candies I can buy for Baby.

Next Saturday Baby was supposed to work OT during the morning, which sucks man.. Cos I'll be my cousin's 'sister', and Baby was supposed to be there too with the rest of the 'brothers'.. Luckily his senior allowed him to change his ot shift to afternoon from 2-6pm, so he can join in the fun before going to work. But I'm only afraid Baby will be damn tired by end of the day, as he still has to rush to the hotel to meet us after his work. Poor Baby~ I'll sayang you more ok~

I'm so excited for my cousin, as I know she have been waiting for this day for so long.. =)

Yesterday I heard a shocking news... a cousin of mine (we don't contact, basically only see each other during cny) has a 1 year old Baby already. Their family practically hide the truth from every relative because they felt ashamed that their daughter got pregnant before getting married. Some more the guy is a china guy, who is now staying in their already very small home. Mommy was like telling me this news and advising me to not be like them as it will disgrace the family. She even ask if we can get married earlier..... actually I also want to, but we need time to save up the money for the banquet, bridal package, our house and so much more that we will expect, some more our house won't be ready before 2011, can't expect us to get married and still stay in our parent's house right~

Aiyo... Mommy is thinking too much liao... But actually I feel that there isn't anything to be ashamed of. It's what century liao, such things are what we call norm liao.. I already have so many ex schoolmates whom I know with such situation. They should that it as a blessing as a new life is brought into the world, and there are some people yarns to have kids but have problem conceiving..

We should be happy for my cousin, but just kind of disappointed that they hide the truth even from their relative. Well... at least we know for sure one quote is always right "paper can't wrap fire"....

No grand ROM....

*zHigUo + xiNhUi = kUkU & LaLa *

Yesterday Baby and I were discussing about our budget plan for our ROM on 2010, and I realized that making it too grand will cost us a bomb. Thus I'm deciding to hold it as a simple lunch gathering for close family members and close friends, probably only about 30 odd people I guess..

We have come to such consensus as we have to allocate our savings money to other areas which we think are more worth while. Mommy also suggested that we should save on the ROM and not invite too many people, because for certain people's mindset, they will dislike the idea of being invited for both ROM and Wedding Dinner as they have to give double ang bao. Of cause I know this kind of mindset is very old fashion, but mommy still has got her point there.

Baby was pleased with the idea when I initiated this topic, and said that many of his colleagues and friends also suggest not to spend too much money on just ROM itself. I still have to plan where and how we can make it simple but glam, and my tentative plan is to hold it during lunch time at some nice restaurant as the day would fall on a Sunday.

Baby was telling me his colleague went to Malaysia last week to recee on the prices of bridal packages and they range at about only $2.4k to $3k, which includes almost everything you need from ROM gown, actual day wedding gown, posh car, to photo shooting at Bali... They provide comparable services to Bridal shops in Spore, some even better, but at lower prices. Thus we may consider signing a package in Malaysia, but probably will ask for recommendations from friends who have experiences.

Lately I have been wondering if I should wear my solitaire ring everyday, as usually people will wear their proposal ring all the time, once your partner has popped the question. But sometimes its still quite troublesome to wear the ring everyday as I tend to hit it against something when I'm working. Well... heck la, Baby spend so much money buy this solitaire for me, I should show some appreciation by wearing it right?...

Last night mommy was having headache, so I helped her do some massage with my huge lollipop sticks and turtle massager, luckily mommy felt better =)
The other day I was watching this show by mediacorp, hosted by Quan Yi Feng and Christopher Lee. Its about volunteering to help clean up homes for people who really needs help in their life. I remember Yi Feng was saying this phrase "when you were young, your mom was the one who tucks you to bed in the middle of the night, but when you grow up, since when was the time you help your mom or dad tuck their blanket in the middle of the night". It was well said, and it strike me that it's not too late late to show how much you love you parents, and to show by actions and not just by words or keeping it to yourself. Try it if you haven't, may it be just helping them with simple chores or giving them a massage, your parents will really appreciate it.

Happy Birthday Siong!

*zHigUo + xiNhUi = kUkU & LaLa *

Today we are celebrating siong siong's brithday, belated birthday to be exact. Siong Siong's birthday falls on 28th of October, and we were supposed to celebrate for him as its his first birthday at home since he returned from the states. However, as it happened to be during grandma's wake during that day, so mom and I decided to celebrate for Siong today.

We had steamboat at home, and everyone enjoyed it as it was family style, healthier and more hygienic. Papa and ah gong enjoyed the food, and Siong too. Its a pity Fat siong isn't in Spore to enjoy the food with us. Siong opened his Ice Wine, Inniskillin 2006 VQA Niagara Peninsula VQA, the one which he bought in Canada. Ice wine is supposed to be accompanied with desserts, but I have to say, it's really freaking sweet lor.... More sweet than my Ribena man...

Anyway, when Ah gong was chatting with us this afternoon, he was like saying Daphne, my cousin in law, is giving birth to a baby girl this month. My cousin, Joey, is also getting married on the 15th this month. It's double happiness! But ah gong was asking Siong when he will be getting married, and was saying strange things like " don't know if I'll be still around when you children get married". We were all so shocked, and tried to stop ah gong from saying anymore unlucky things.

Ah gong is a very realistic and straight forward person, he says anything that runs through his mind. He even said "why not, I'm already 85 liao, how many years more can there be, Ah gong very old and weak liao". It's was sad to hear ah gong say such things, but we just tried to console him by saying "ah gong you will still live many many years de".

One can't help but think about death, especially when they start to grow old and see grey hair growing more and more, overtaking their originally beautiful black hair. We shouldn't be so pessimistic, we have to think on the bright side of life~

Today mommy told me they were distributing grandma's assets to everyone, but mommy wasn't around so grandpa help us take our share. But I was quite disappointed with some aunties and uncles as they were like eyeing on all those valuble stuff. There was one auntie of mine who happened to get grandma's rolex watch, and she went to the pawnshop to check the value immediately. When she found out the value was about $1800, she even commented that its was so low. OMG~ how can they be like that, its supposed to be given to us as a token and as a memento for us to keep, not to sell it and get the money to spend. They were really so materialistic... damn~

I got a few old coins and notes, and nice coin set which was released by the Singapore Mint on 2001. I will keep grandma's items in a nice spot in my drawer, and always remember that they were once held in grandma's palm, used by her, and kept in her drawer, thank you grandma~

I would like to thank all my friends and relatives for consoling me over the lost of my grandma =)

Life still has to go on you know, I haven't had the time to blog since grandma's funeral ended. The memories of grandma cooking for us, asking us if we have eaten, and handing yakult to us is still so deeply embossed in my mind. I really regret not spending more time with grandma when she was still around, but she always still understands that we didn't do it on purpose.

I can still remember the day we send grandma off for the last time, my uncles were pushing the decorated 'ling' car with grandma's on it. Mama said that grandma really dotes on us, because during the "parade"of sending grandma off, it didn't rain, and it was cooling despite the fact that we send her off at about 3.30pm in the afternoon. The cremation was held at Mandai Crematorium and Columbian. I was glad that the adults chose that location, because it was a lovely and peaceful place, so that grandma can have a peaceful 'resting' environment after death.

The moments when the coffin was moving into the 'burning' area is still so fresh in my mind. We were all kept so far away from her as she was on the first level, and we were viewing the whole process from the viewing hall on a level above. Everyone were calling out for her when the coffin was finally moving into the automated cremating 'machine'. Mummy finally burst out into tears and was calling for grandma, and my heart really felt the ache as I knew mummy was so close to grandma, and she didn't cry for the whole funeral until now...

Grandma we love you, and you will always be in our hearts........
